Established in 2003, Barrio Antiguo Custom Furniture came into existence. With the expertise of the owner Barrio Antiguo, this company has etched out a strong place in the furniture industry. Now they have a team of master carpenters who can create mesmerizing custom furniture for their clients. Although the company is not so old but the business is there for more than 25 years in Houston.
When the recession hit Monterrey, Mexico, my dad, Francisco, decided to follow his passion to Houston. He had always had a passion for collecting street, soda/beer signs, antique Mexican doors, unique rare ironwork, and reselling them to Houston antique shops. We were given a chance to rent a spot on Yale Street, which was mostly devoid of businesses back then. People told us we were too far from the main hub of activity (19th Street) and that we wouldn’t survive. To draw drivers’ attention to our business, we put lots of our inventory on the side of the street. It worked! We have since grown and doubled our size. We now own our current location and the building next door, where we have our outdoor showroom. Barrio will be turning 8 this year, and we thank everyone who has supported us and continues to do so. We remain a family, and now an even bigger one.
